I recently had the opportunity to test the Sausage Golf putter over a full 18 holes at Churston Golf Club. The putter was kindly loaned to me by Dan Hendriksen, whose coaching content has played a significant role in my development as a golfer.

Having only played golf for four years and currently playing off an 18 handicap, I was interested to see how this putter would compare with my usual Scotty Cameron.

From the very first putt, the Sausage Golf putter made a strong impression. At address, it sits beautifully behind the ball, with a clean and modern profile that inspires confidence. The alignment aid is simple yet highly effective, providing a clear visual line that helped me square the face more consistently. As someone still refining their technique, having a putter that simplifies the setup process is a genuine advantage.

One of the standout features throughout the round was the weighting of the putter. It feels exceptionally well balanced, encouraging a smooth and controlled stroke that made distance control far more predictable. On longer lag putts, I consistently finished within a comfortable two-putt range. The feedback from the face is soft yet responsive, offering enough feel to judge the quality of strike without feeling harsh or overly firm.

Where the putter impressed me most was inside six feet. These are the putts that can make or break a round for mid handicap golfers, and the stability through impact gave me the confidence to commit fully to each stroke. I holed more short putts than I typically would, and that alone made the round feel more controlled and enjoyable.

The model I tested was the 34 inch version, matching the specification I was originally fitted for with my Scotty Cameron. One of the most appealing aspects of the Sausage Golf design is its adjustability. The putter allows you to fine tune the settings to suit your stroke, whether you prefer more toe hang, a face balanced feel, or something in between. Although I did not make any adjustments during the round, knowing that flexibility is available adds real value, particularly for a golfer like me whose stroke is still evolving.

If I had to offer one personal criticism, it would be the grip size. The standard grip felt slightly thinner than I am used to, although that is purely down to personal preference rather than a flaw in the design. A simple grip change would easily resolve that issue.

Overall, the Sausage Golf putter exceeded my expectations. For someone who has only been playing golf for four years, it delivered a level of confidence, feel and consistency that genuinely surprised me.

It offers the sort of performance you would expect from a premium brand, but at a far more accessible price point. After 18 holes, I came away believing this is a putter that could easily remain in my bag, and one that many golfers, particularly improving mid handicappers should seriously consider trying.
